From the Carolyn Nelson collection. . .

Carolyn gave us a stack of orphan blocks to make into quilts for Dr. Kaufman, as well as 3 completed tops. Some of her blocks were from a swap she did with friends from Wichita. I chose these 3 to put together because the colors worked together. After I started adding the outer borders, I think I could have made the rusty red border a bit smaller - hindsight, you know?! And with my usual intention of making things more asymmetrical, the borders to the left and right of the pieced section are not the same width. Now I think maybe the width difference should have been even more dramatic. But what can I say, it will do!
